Terri Brown

Welcome
Terri Brown, often referred to by her peers as "Guitar Girl" has been playing, writing and recording for the past 23 years.  She has performed and toured around her state since age 16.  At age 19, she was signed to an 18 month contract with an indie record label, called "Artistree Records", an umbrella company of Don Reed Productions in Nashville.  The first two songs from that label ("Tomorrow Land" and "New Woman", which are played on this site) were played on radio stations throughout the Southern United States and Belgium.  They did very well in her local community, in Florida and also in some parts of Belgium, where the label had musical connections.  Terri wrote her songs as rock songs but the label, dealing primarily with country musicians, used steel guitars in the studio and gave them a country sound.  However, you can sense the rock roots coming out of the music.  Terri descirbes it as "alternative country."  Some of the radio stations had trouble knowing what to call it.  Some of the rock stations said it was "too country" and some of the country stations said it was "too rock."  However, no one can deny this talented young guitarist has a unique style all her own.   She spent time in Memphis, playing guitar for  country/folk musician Bobby Freeman when he needed a fill-in guitarist.  The record label eventually went bankrupt, which was a major blow to her career.  However, she deems this experience as her "foot in the door" in the music business.
Terri's musical roots go far back, as her mother played drums in an all-girl band in the 60's, called "The Beatniks".  She then traveled around, playing percussion with a band in college, called "The Lamplighters."  Terri was fortunate enough to get to know her mother's band friends and learn from them.  Her parents bought her a Baldwin piano and lessons at age 5.  After going through the piano and saxophone, she decided guitar was her instrument of choice and recalls the day she told her parents she wanted to play guitar in a band.  "They thought that was great!"  She recalls that they bought her a white Ibanez Roadstar electric and a Marshall amp.  She still has her first equipment and every equipment she has ever bought since then.  She states, "Every instrument I have has a memory behind it and I would never sell any of them, no matter the price!"
She is now represented by the record label "Hannemann Music" out of California and has just released a new CD aptly titled "Guitar Girl." Local radio stations have been playing her music and she has been getting rave reviews on her music so far. Her new CD just might prove to be her best music yet!   Check out the "About us" page to know more!
Terri has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in English from the University of Southern Mississippi.  She is married to her long-time love Jonathan Grygier, a meteorologist and fellow musician.  She is a member of Local 777 of the American Federation of Musicians and a proud member of PETA.  They have a recording studio in their home.
Terri worked for many years as an addictions counselor and spent 3 years in Pre-Law in college.  She almost attended law school before her heart decided to take a leap of faith and play music for a living.  She still has plans to attend law school and specialize in entertainment law, unless her music career takes off!
